Halloween in Plymouth 2025: What’s on in and around the city for kids

Halloween in Plymouth is here! And there is SO much spooky entertainment going on in our fabulous city, you’d better be ready for it.

So get your costumes organised, stock up on sweets for the Trick or Treaters, and get those pumpkins carved. Obviously once you’ve picked one from some of the awesome pumpkin patches near Plymouth

City Centre Halloween Trail

If you love a trail, then you’ll be in for a treat this year. The Visit Plymouth city centre Halloween trail is back again for 2025. 

It will be running during half term, from Saturday October 25 to Sunday November 2, and is the perfect thing to do to keep the kids entertained during the holidays. You have to locate the 15 Halloween characters displayed in shop windows to be in with a chance of winning one of three £50 gift cards to spend at Smyths. What a great prize! 

Once you’ve found them all, complete the entry form on the Visit Plymouth website to be in with chance to win.

Halloween on the Barbican

Some ‘sea-riously’ spooky events and activities are set to take place on Plymouth’s Barbican this month. There will be a Barbican Halloween Trail run by the Barbican Tourist Information Centre. Pop along to pick up your trail sheet, then once you’ve done it, take it back for a treat. It will run from October 25 to November 1. Find out more on the Barbican Waterfront website.

Hocus Pocus at The Box

Dress up in your scariest Halloween outfits and head to The Box for a some fun this half term. With craft activities, magical science experiments, music and dancing, Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus on Sunday October 26 is sure to be a spooktacular event for all the family! The Box Kitchen & Bar will be open until late offering a special Halloween menu filled with tasty treats. Tickets are £8.

The Box is also holding half term Woven Worlds activity sessions. The colourful weaving activity is inspired by the work of British artist Grayson Perry, and children can make their own creations after seeing six of Perry’s vibrant, large-scale tapestries on display at The Box from October 4 to January 11. The Woven Worlds sessions take place on October 28 to 31 between 10.30am and 12.30pm, and 1.30pm and 3.30pm, with last entries into each session at 12.15pm and 3.15pm. The Spooky Stadium

For the very first time, Home Park Stadium is transforming into the city’s biggest haunted house experience on October 30 and 31. From the stands to the tunnels, this is Home Park like you’ve never seen it before! From 4pm to 6pm, families and younger explorers can enter the haunted stadium during daylight hours. These early sessions are designed with just the right level of scare – spooky characters, eerie sights, and immersive theatre toned down to make it fun rather than frightening (think spooky, not scary!).

It’s a perfect way to celebrate Halloween with kids: atmospheric, exciting, and just the right amount of creepy. Expect laughter, gasps, and plenty of unforgettable memories After completing the stadium trail, the Halloween fun continues in Harper’s Sports Centre, where families can enjoy:

  • Zombie Football – a spooky twist on the beautiful game
  • UV games and activities
  • More Halloween surprises designed especially for younger visitors

Halloween Story Telling

Get yourselves dressed up and head down to the Soapbox Children’s Theatre at Devonport Park for some spooky story telling beside a fire and a look around Miss Treat’s laboratory on Thursday October 30, Friday October 31 and Saturday November 1. Storyteller Jacqueline will delight the whole family with tales of ghosts and ghouls. Book one of the sessions here.

Pumpkin Picking

If you fancy picking your own pumpkin this Halloween, there are A LOT of places to choose from near Plymouth. Favourites include Pips Pick Your Own in Yealmpton, Lifton’s Pumpkin Fest 2025, Pennywell Farm or The Pumpkin Patch and Halloween Maze of Horrors at the Amazing Cornish Maize Maze at Pillaton near Saltash. Halloween Craft Workshops

Three Halloween Craft Workshops are taking place in the city centre this October half term. Kids can drop in and have a go at making alien headbands and Halloween masks, or listen to some spooky storytelling. All workshops are free to attend and booking is not required. Just drop in and get creative! They are running from 10am to 2pm at these locations:

  • October 28 – Central Library, Armada Way, 11am to 3pm
  • October 30 – The Treasury, 11am to 3pm (mask making) and 3.45pm to 4.30pm (storytelling)

Plymouth Market Halloween Party

Halloween fun will be taking place at Plymouth Market in the city centre at a special spooky party. The event will run from 11am to 3pm on Friday October 31 and will involve exciting (and spooky) activities such as face painting, competitions, games and activities, and trick or treating. Get into the spooky spirit and show off your creepiest, funniest or most creative costume – everyone is encouraged to dress up and join in.

Magic and Myths Trail at Saltram

Saltram is holding a Magic and Myths Trail from October 25 to November 9. Wander around the gardens to discover the folklore tales surrounding the superstition and magical properties of trees. Collect a wand from the wand shop at the Welcome Centre (or bring your own) and cast magical spells around the garden at each of the trail points. Around the garden, you’ll have the chance to practice casting your charms in the ‘Spell Casting Area.’ Join in some fun spooky games like broomstick racing and spell dodging. Or look out for the pesky pumpkins and magical beasties. There are also spooky craft sessions throughout half term in the Stable where children can make their own bat to take home. Spooky Goings-On at Cotehele

There’s a Spooky Scarecrow trail happening at Cotehele this Halloween. Head over to the National Trust property in South East Cornwall, pick up your free trail sheet and explore the gardens to see how many spooky scarecrows you can spot. Each scarecrow has its own folklore story for you to crack the riddle and solve the mystery. All the scarecrows have been made by local schools and community groups. The trail runs from October 25 to November 9.

Piskies Trail at Buckland Abbey

A free Half Term Trail is taking place at Buckland Abbey daily from October 18 to November 2. The Piskies that caused mischief at Buckland Abbey during the Spring are back and this time they’re squabbling with the resident Buckland Trolls who have just woken up from their summer slumber. Come and see what games and tricks they have been playing on each other. Can you help them out? And more importantly are you Team Troll or Team Piskie? Pick up your trail sheet from Visitor Welcome and declare your allegiance with a sticker.

Spooktacular Adventure Golf

Don your best costume and head to China Fleet for some spooky fun on their Halloween Adventure Golf course. It’s on from October 25 to November 2 with every child receiving a free goodie bag filled with Halloween delights. With spooky decorations, eerie surprises and lots of fun, it’s an experience the whole family won’t want to miss.

Half Term at Sherford

The Friends of Sherford Country Park are holding an Orchards and Wildflowers family fun session at the country park on Wednesday October 29 from 10am to midday. Activities include working in the orchard, a scavenger hunt, making a simple bird feeder, and sowing wildflowers. Children must be accompanied by an adult and wear old warm, clothes, gloves and wellies, and bring a drink. Meet at the Gemini Road and Orion Drive entrance to the country park. Plymouth Snowsports Centre Halloween Party

Why not try out sno-tubing or the toboggan run combined with a spooktastic Halloween Party at Plymouth Snowsports Centre. For the past 2 years it’s been sold out, so this year they are holding two parties – on Friday October 31 and Saturday November 1. From 6pm to 9pm on each evening there will be a disco, party games and competitions. Tickets are available now, to book call 01752 600220.

The Snowsports Centre is also holding Half Term Activity Days including snowboard or skiing lessons, toboganning, sno-tubing and the Viper Drop as well as a hot meal. To find out more about the party or the activity days, check out their website.

Halloween at Pennywell

Another one of our favourite places, Pennywell Farm is having its very own Pumpkin Festival again this year – every day in October. Everyone is invited to meet Paddy the Pumpkin and his friends who have left clues all around the farm. Follow the trail and answer the quiz questions. You can then roam around the pumpkin patch and find your own locally grown pumpkin to buy and take home. This year there is also live music, marshmallow toasting, a scarecrow dress-up competition, a pumpkin colouring competition, and different stickers to earn and collect.

This year Pennywell is also holding Pumpkin Nights. You can enjoy the pumpkin patch after dark, accompanied by live music, marshmallow toasting, a tractor and trailer ride, as well as indoor and outdoor play. It’s open on selected dates in October.

Spook-Fest at Crealy

Crealy’s Spook-Fest is a real favourite among locals and is set to be even better this year with loads of new attractions. There is something for all ages with the Creaky Hotel walk-through experience, Scarecrow Scare Maze, Buddy’s Spook Maze, Bump In The Night Magic Illusion Show, Dino Jeepers Creepers, Trick or Treat Trail, Treehouse Trolls, Book of Spells cirque show, Halloween Sooty Show, and free pumpkins From Pumpkin Patch’s Plot to take home and carve.

Halloo-Scream at Woodlands

From Saturday October 25 to Sunday November 2, Woodlands will be transformed from theme park to scream park, with spooky activities taking over for the entire Halloween half term. Tiptoe into the witch cabin, passed the petrifying potions room, and into the Witches of Woodlands secret reading room. Settle down for the telling of a spooktastic story by a real-life witch. With interactive lights and sounds, watch as the story comes to life around you! There will also be a pumpkin patch and Marty’s Monster Trails scavenger hunt as well as Halloween crafts.

Canonteign Falls

This October half term, there’s set to be some spooktastic fun at Canonteign Falls from October 25 to November 2. They have a fantastic spooky code-breaking treasure hunt (free with entry price), pumpkin colouring competition, Fairies in the Ferns, Halloween activity bags, a fancy dress competition, and a Halloween selfie booth. That’s all on top of the regular Alpaca experiences and usual fun and discovery Canonteign Falls has on offer.

Spooky Fun at Plymouth Libraries

Halloween craft, storytelling and wreath making sessions are taking place at various libraries around the city this half term. Suitable for children aged five and over. Find out more here.

Royal William Yard’s Halloween

If you fancy a bit of pumpkin carving, then what better place to do it than the stunning Royal William Yard. They have sessions running on October 26 from 10am to 2pm which also involves free autumn crafts. There is also going to be an Art Zone for families to do free arts and crafts as part of their Artober exhibition in the Arcade and Melville Corner from October 24 to November 2. Halloween Fun at Jump

There’s lots of spooky goings-on at Jump Plymouth at Christian Mill Business Park this half term. They are holding a Fright Night Halloween disco on Tuesday October 28 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. There will be a DJ and disco, dance competitions, spooky treasure hunt, fun activities, plus sweet treats and prizes. Then on Friday 31st October they’re holding a Pumpkin Patch Party from 10am to 12pm. There will be dancing, a treasure hunt, best dressed awards and Halloween colouring fun. It usually sells out quickly, so don’t hang about buying your tickets!

Drakes Den Halloween Party

Drakes Den is holding a series of Halloween parties this half term. They will take place on October 29, 30 and 31, with games, prizes, disco, contests and a fancy dress competition. The October 29 party is a special SEN Halloween party. Find out more details here.

Halloween at Chaplins

Chaplins in Plymouth will be hosting a free, four-day Halloween event over the weekends of October 18/19 and October 25/26. The “Spooktacular” celebration will feature a variety of family-friendly entertainment, including Higher Beings Circus visiting with Wizards, Witches & Dragons, the “Bug Man”, a costume competition, Alley’s Artistic Air Art, hair extensions and glitter tattoos, group sing-a-longs, special character breakfasts and lots more.

The furry green and grumpy Mr. Grinch and the “Little Girl Dressed in Black” from Halloweens most famous family, will be joining guests for breakfast and spooking you around the store.

Halloween Boat Trip

Fancy a Halloween-themed kids disco on the high seas? Plymouth Boat Trips are holding their Halloween event on Saturday November 1 from 5pm to 6.30pm. There will be on-board musical games, a children’s disco and a prize for the best Halloween costume.

Tavistock Zombie Crawl

Tavistock’s second Zombie Crawl is taking place on Wednesday October 29 at 5pm from Bedford Square. Come dressed in anything spooktastic and take part in this playful parade with fellow zombies through the centre of town. Or simply come and watch! Find out more here.

Halloween at Ullacombe Farm

There’s loads of spooky goings on this half term at Ullacombe Farm near Bovey Tracey. As well as a pumpkin hunt there is are Halloween-themed play sessions , a spooky choc pizza workshop, Magical Witchy Dens and Wizard Huts naturemake, an inflatables stay and play, and Halloween-themed stage workshops. Halloween Bat Walk

If you fancy something a bit different this Halloween, why not join the Halloween Bat Walk and Pumpkin Lantern Trail at Radford Park in Plymstock? The event takes place on Saturday October 25 between 5pm and 7pm. Don your scariest costume, carve your spookiest pumpkin face for a chance to win some exciting prizes.Follow the pumpkin lantern-lit trail through the park to the haunted ruins, take part in Halloween-themed activities, and enjoy refreshments available for purchase.

Spooky goings-on at Shire Horse Centre

The Shire Horse Centre is open this half term and has some spooky goings-on. It’s open on October 19, 25, 26, 27, 30 and November 1 and 2, with special Halloween activities taking place on October 30 and November 1 and 2. These include pumpkin carvy, spooky arts and crafts and a scary stable stroll. Find out more on their facebook page.

Visiting you from The Best Christmas Yet. It’s great there is still so much going on for kids despite the pandemic. We don’t do Halloween really because my daughter and I are scaredy cats so instead, we do a harry potter movie night with themed food. Chocolate frogs, jelly beans, caramel…I mean butterbeer popcorn. It’s always a treat!
