If you are like most parents then you dread the school holidays rolling around again. With the Easter holidays just around the corner, you may already be planning what you are going to do with the children. If you work full-time then it can be tricky trying to work this around childcare, that’s where the family usually comes into play. However, what happens when you can’t rely on your family to help with childcare? Take a look below for some ideas on what you could do.
This is a collaborative post
Take Them Out During The School Holidays
Days out can be expensive, you don’t have to take them out every day of the school holidays. However, if you don’t want you or the kids to get cabin fever then you should aim to take them out for a couple of hours each day. If you are on the lookout for amazing places to take them that won’t cost the earth then how about museums or the park? A lot of museums offer free entry, you will only have to pay for extra exhibits. If you have exhausted all parks and playgrounds in your area then take a look further afield for others you can visit.
Sign Them Up To Camps And Holiday Clubs
If you have to work and you aren’t able to get childcare then how about you sign the kids up for some holiday camps? These can be wonderful for the kids as they get to do the things they love with kids their own age during the school holidays. If you have children that are of school age then their school might have a holiday club that they run. Alternatively, find something they love to do, gymnastics for example. There are many camps that involve this type of activity, take a look at gymfinity kids for more information on after-school clubs and holiday camps.
Days At Home During The School Holidays
If you just fancy a day at home, then don’t be afraid to just stay in. The kids will always have things to do and work on at home to give you some peace and quiet. Alternatively, you could plan a movie or board game day with them. Engaging children in board games teaches them many valuable skills that they will carry with them through life. Additionally, you can bring back the nostalgia with a classic game of Cribbage, teaching the kids to play what you did as a child. If you want your children to have a wonderful time then you could get them to choose a film to watch. If you have more than one child then you could put all suggestions into a hat and pick one film out so it is fair.
Take Them On Holiday
Finally, school holidays give you the chance to spend quality time with your children. You all work so hard throughout the year that you deserve a great holiday together. You don’t have to venture away abroad or even go anywhere particularly fancy. As long as you are together and having a great time then that is all that matters. Take a look at various holiday ideas, either a road trip or a week at the seaside. You could also ask the kids if there is anywhere they want to go, be careful they may throw Disney at you!
