Travelling with kids is always an adventure, so the laws of mathematics must say that travelling with twins is twice the adventure.

That being said, there are plenty of ways to lessen the stress of travelling with multiples. It goes without saying that you have to be doubly prepared, and having the right gear (some of which is made specifically for twins) is half the battle. Having the right attitude helps too!
We’ve rounded up a selection of the best gear for travelling with twins. These items should make the journey less stressful for you and more relaxed for your kids, too. Juggling more than one child of the same age is a challenge any time, but when you have to do it at the airport and on a plane, the complexities increase twofold.
Keep reading for the low down on the best gear to have when travelling with twins.
A double stroller will make travelling with twins easier
Delta Children LX Tandem Umbrella Stroller
This stroller is so amazing that there’s a good chance you’ll want to use it all the time, but it is incredibly convenient while travelling with twins. It has a five-point harness on each seat to keep your little ones safe and the seats are side by side instead of single-file so the twins can interact with each other.
Although this stroller is wide enough to fit twin toddlers, it folds down surprisingly thin for easy storage during travel and at home. It’s easy to fold and unfold and comes with other features parents will love, like a cup holder and built-in mesh bags.
A double float for the pool
There is nothing like enjoying a nice dip in the hotel pool after a long day of travel, but even that can be stressful if you have to wrangle two kids in the pool.
This double seat float lets you put two kids in one float to manage them in the water. There’s even a centre divider to put toys in to keep the kids busy if they aren’t interested in the pool. It only takes minutes to inflate and deflate so it can conveniently be packed in your luggage.
A double baby carrier could be a life safer when travelling with twins
The TwinGo carrier has done nothing short of revolutionise twin care as it lets you carry two babies hands-free at the same time. The Air model is the next evolution of the famous carrier because it is lighter and more breathable than the original model.
If one of your kids isn’t into the carrier or your partner can help carry the load, this carrier splits into two separate ones. It’s designed for babies to face inward, which is better for their hips and better for your back. As if this carrier couldn’t get any better, it’s small enough to be stored in your carry-on. And has a pocket to hold small items like your smartphone or keys.
Take a good nappy bag with you
Convertible Bassinet Nappy/Diaper Bag
Sometimes the key to travelling with twins is dividing and conquering. And there’s no better way to do that than to have one of your babies in a place where you know he or she is safe. This diaper bag works in two wonderful ways, which is why it is a necessity for travelling with twins.
The most practical way this bag works is as a diaper/nappy bag with a lot of storage capacity. There is plenty of room for two of everything. And it even has an insulated front pocket that holds three large bottles.
The secret second feature of this bag that all parents will love, but especially those who are juggling multiples, is that it converts into a travel bassinet. The back panel of the backpack slides out, creating a playpen/bassinet/changing area. This bag is incredible. When you have one baby that needs extra attention, you can put the other baby in the enclosed bed area and know he or she will be safe.
Take a good travel cot with you
The Lotus Travel Crib is not specifically for parents of twins, but it will make travelling with twins exponentially easier. This crib is made for travel since it is lightweight and can be carried on the back like a backpack. Unlike other portable cribs that take a lot of effort to set up and take down, this takes only seconds.
It is the ideal travel luxury, especially if you have a stopover. It gives parents a chance to relax while knowing their babies are safely contained in the crib. One sneaky way that this crib helps parents of multiples is reassurance that everyone will have a bed to sleep in since some hotels only offer one crib per room.
Hooded fun towels
One thing you shouldn’t leave behind is some good towels for after bath time or swimming. *Cuddledry hooded fun towels are AWESOME and make changing twins after their bath or a swim so easy. They’re made of bamboo, the size of an adult bath towel and are so warm and cosy, my twins dry off just by being wrapped up in them.
Travelling with twins or multiples
It would be naïve to say that travelling with multiples is easy. Travelling with children, in general, is a challenge, so doubling it would have to be a feat. These products will make travelling with twins so much easier while giving you peace of mind that your babies are safe. Travelling is one of the greatest joys of life and sharing it with your family is even better. Knowing that your twins are covered will allow you to go on holiday and enjoy the rest and relaxation you deserve.

Mikala found out she was expecting twins in 2014. After she got over the initial shock, she set off on an adventure looking for all things twin. However, once her girls were born, she realised how hard it was to find the products she needed. Today she runs Things for Twins with another mum of twins, Jade. They provide support and unique products for other mums and dads of multiples.

I remember how stressful taking twin babies on a plane was. However, it does get easier and now they always have a friend to play with when we go away.
I’m looking forward to that!
