This is a guest post about travelling with children, written in collaboration with Ella Woodward. I have been paid for some of the links it contains.
Travelling with your family can be a lot of fun and one of the best ways to make precious memories that you can hold onto forever.
But travelling can also be a hassle, especially if you are flying to another country, so the main thing is being comfortable and calm. The outfits that you wear for travelling can make all the difference in how you feel on the trip and when you get there. Here are some top fashion tips to keep in mind when you’re travelling with your family.
Keep it simple when travelling
Airport fashion is simple and comfortable, so don’t feel the need to wear anything too grand or fancy. ‘Athleisure’ is the perfect option for a comfortable yet stylish airport outfit if you want to take pictures for the ‘gram’ while you are there. Think workout leggings, sweatshirts, comfortable sneakers, and oversized tees – the roomier and more breathable, the better. After all, nobody wants tight jeans that dig in or chafe during a long flight.
Wear comfortable shoes when travelling
Wearing heels in the airport and on the flight has got to be an absolute pain. When you’re flying, your feet can swell up from the change in air pressure and the fact that you’re sitting down for hours on end, and squeezing your feet into those strappy heeled sandals might have seemed like a good idea when you were getting dressed, but now you’re wondering why you didn’t just wear sliders. Opt for a comfortable pair of shoes to wear on the flight. Trainers are a good option, especially if there’s a long walk to your gate.
Choose your luggage carefully
You might have been able to get away with taking just a small handbag on the flight after dropping your luggage at the check-in point if you were travelling on your own, but when you’re travelling with your kids, you know all too well that you’re going to have a bag full of snacks, toys, games, spare nappies and everything else that they’re probably going to need on the flight. Try a Jacquemus tote bag sourced from SSENSE, that’s nice and roomy and stylish. A Jacquemus bag styled like a beach bag is perfect for on the flight with plenty of room for everything you need, and it’ll come in handy once you reach your destination too.
Consider the weather
Think about the weather – if you’re travelling from a cold to a warmer destination, then you’re going to want to consider how warm you’re going to be when you arrive and make sure that you dress to accommodate the change in the climate. The last thing that you need is to be all hot and bothered in your winter wardrobe clothes when you arrive, so dress in layers so that it’s easy for you to remove a few once you get there.
Also, if it’s a sunny destination, make sure you have some decent sunglasses with you for when you step off the plane. Making sure your glasses suit your personality is key, but it needs to be affordable too. Luckily, one of the top places to buy glasses online is SmartBuyGlasses.co.uk, where they sell a wide range of styles from the biggest designers, all with a best price guarantee. They also stock hundreds of eyewear styles in their cheap glasses collection, with frames from as little as £6.
Travelling with your family is a lot of fun, but getting there can be stressful. Choose your outfits wisely, so that you’re as comfortable as possible for the journey.
