Should you consider moving to and working in London?

London is one of the most diverse and exciting cities in the entire world. It’s one of the world’s leading capitals and is an amazing city that is full of surprises, different cultures, and excellent opportunities. So should you consider moving to London and working there?

Despite all of the above, one of the biggest problems with London has to be the cost of housing. As you might expect from such a renowned city, it’s very expensive to move to and live in London. For the cost of a small studio apartment in London, you could afford a house on the outskirts of the city.

But aside from the housing cost and the logistics of moving, are there any other issues that might prevent you from moving to and working in London? And to contrast those negative points, what are the upsides of living in London? Is it something that you should consider now that many of us are working remotely and are no longer tied down to a single location?

London is competitive and often cramped, but there are many opportunities to be had

Even after finally putting through your citizenship application if you live abroad, you’ll have to look for a stable job and you’ll also need to find a suitable place to live. London can be extremely competitive when it comes to finding employment, housing, and even when squeezing into public transport. However, if you can look over these concerns, then you’ll discover that the city is full of unique opportunities and there’s something special about living in one of the world’s biggest and most culturally diverse cities.

From working in a restaurant to running a manufacturing business, there are so many different opportunities that you can take advantage of in London. There really are no boundaries that you need to stick within and as long as you’re willing to chase your ideas and network with others, you’ll discover lots of different career paths. In some cases, you might even find a completely new career path that you never knew about before.

Your neighbourhood will hugely affect your experience of living in London

Your neighbourhood, often just known as a borough in the UK, is essentially your local community and will make a huge difference in how you experience London. There are some boroughs that are much more elegant and high-class such as Westminster, Chelsea, and Kensington. These are premium areas with unique architecture, huge properties, and very modern amenities. In fact, you’ll find that many celebrities that live in London move to these boroughs because of their reputation.

On the other hand, boroughs such as Southwark and Hackney are well-known for being dangerous parts of London that have high crime rates. Some of these boroughs neighbour much more renowned and well-known boroughs too. This gives London a strange feeling where walking just five minutes down the road can completely change the scenery around you and you’ll feel like you’ve stumbled into a different city altogether. This can be a huge plus for some, but for others, it can be a safety concern.

But if you are considering moving to and working in London, you can be sure of one thing – it’ll be exciting!
