A side gig is any form of job or source of income in addition to a full-time job. Having a side job as a busy mum has endless benefits for the household, like gaining financial independence and living a comfortable life. There are many side jobs that a busy mum can go for, like web development, IT, blog writing, becoming a brand ambassador, participating in online surveys, online tutoring, personal chef, and much more.
This is a collaborative post
It is not easy to have a side and full-time job but here are some tips to help you navigate venturing into side gigs. Read on to find out!
Focus on what you like and set a goal
To start a side job, you will have to be specific about what you want and work hard to fulfil your goals. It will help if you do things at the right time. Please don’t aim at something that will make it hard for you to achieve. Avoid frustrations and disappointments by conducting your activities step by step. Start with the simple and manageable task as you aim for the bigger task.
Make investments
You can do many things as a side hustle without having to acquire new skills. That said, if you like to learn or if there is something that you’ve always wanted to do, maybe now is the time to make a move towards that career. Think of investing in education for high-paying careers, like web developer courses for example, a high in demand profession nowadays. Such courses will secure you a job, and it might turn out to be full-time. You don’t need to go back to school to do these courses, as these are all online and are accessible to people with busy schedules. Once you have acquired the right skills, you will be able to enjoy the benefits later on.
Assess your skills for a side job
To have positive results from your side job, you will have to incorporate relevant skills or knowledge of that particular industry. For a business to succeed, the right skills must meet the required interest niches. If you don’t have one, it is never too late to start learning them. Getting short courses typically takes less than three months or enrolling in authentic online classes to sharpen your skills.
Get Organised for your side job
As a mum with a busy schedule, it will be hard for you to multitask unless you get organised. Failure to your side job might end up giving you hard times. You need to set clear boundaries between your side job, full-time work, and house chores. Coordinate them into shifts in your daily schedule. The only way to go about this is by knowing what you want, how, and when to do it.
