15 Family Activities To Do In Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire, located in the east of England, offers a variety of attractions and activities suitable for families. From historical sites to natural wonders, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

With this in mind, we wanted to share a list of just some of the things you could do as a family, on one of your luxury getaways UK.

1. Lincoln Castle and Cathedral

Start your family adventure in the county’s capital, Lincoln. Explore the imposing Lincoln Castle, built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century. Children can walk through the medieval walls, visit the Victorian prison, and see an original copy of the Magna Carta. Nearby, Lincoln Cathedral offers guided tours and stunning architecture.

2. Skegness Beach

Head to the coast and enjoy a traditional British seaside experience at Skegness. Build sandcastles, paddle in the sea, or stroll along the pier with a bag of chips. The adjacent Skegness Pleasure Beach amusement park provides rides and attractions for all ages.

3. Natureland Seal Sanctuary

While in Skegness, visit this sanctuary to see rescued seals and learn about marine life conservation. Children can watch seal feeding sessions and enjoy other animal exhibits.

4. Lincolnshire Wolds

Explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty through family-friendly walking trails, picnic spots, and charming villages. The rolling hills and scenic landscapes offer a perfect backdrop for outdoor activities.

5. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve

This coastal reserve near Skegness is ideal for bird watching, nature walks, and learning about local ecosystems. The visitor centre provides interactive exhibits and guided tours.

6. Burghley House, Lincolnshire

This grand Elizabethan mansion near Stamford offers beautiful gardens, a sculpture park, and a deer park. Children will love the Garden of Surprises with its water features and the Adventure Playground.

7. Tattershall Castle

9. The Collection, Lincolnshire

Located in Lincoln, this museum showcases the county’s archaeological treasures. The adjacent Usher Gallery features fine and decorative arts. Both offer family-friendly exhibits and activities.

10. Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre

Aviation enthusiasts will enjoy this museum dedicated to the RAF Bomber Command. It houses the world’s only flying Avro Lancaster Bomber, along with other aircraft and exhibits.

11. Woodside Wildlife Park

This zoo near Lincoln is home to various animals, including tigers, lemurs, and penguins. It offers educational talks and feeding experiences too.

12. Mablethorpe Beach

Another coastal gem, Mablethorpe, offers golden sands, donkey rides, and a sand train that runs along the beach during the summer months.

13. Belton House

This National Trust property near Grantham features a mansion, gardens, and an extensive adventure playground. Inspired by the estate’s history, the outdoor play area is particularly popular with families.

15. Mrs Smith’s Cottage
